Mating Time

The face staring back her seemed unreal. And yet she could feel his breath upon her cheek. She saw the rise and fall of his chest.

"No pat on the head tonight my love?"

"What are you talking about?" She scooted further back on the bed trying to put some distance between herself and this man if that is what you could call him. "I don't know who you are. I've never seen you before."

"Do not lie, it is not becoming of a lady, my love."

"I...I...."

"Must I show you?"

The words she was desperately trying to get out died mid way in her throat. Unbelievably before her eyes stood a
Its beauty and power undeniable. Chills raised down her spine.

"How is that possible?" she asked barely above a whisper.

Moments later he stood before her once more. "We are an ancient race of people who have been since the dawn of time. The Alphas of each tribe have been on a long journey to find their mate, the one that they will be with for the rest of eternity."

"What are you trying to say?"

"Regina, you are my one."

"That's not possible. I'm a mortal. I won't live forever."

"That will not be an issue once we are mated."

"You make it all sound so damn easy, well guess what? This isn't easy for me."

"In time you will come to accept it."

"No!"

"What do you mean no?"

"Are you deaf? I thought wolves had excellent hearing." She glared at him.

"No, we do have excellent hearing. I am just not used to hearing the word no."

"Well, then buddy I suggest you get use to it cause I say it a lot."

A soft growl rose from deep down inside him as he stared her down. She would make an excellent Alpha queen. She feared no one not even him.
