The Devil You KNow

The rain poured down around them. But he couldn't just let her walk away. He had to try one last time.

"Every person is given a guardian angel and a little devil. That isn't just made up for the cartoons."

"So then, which one are you?" She gazed up at him.

"Which one do you think I am?" His lips inched closer to her until he was just a hair's breath away from claiming her mouth.

The lips that could make a saint sin without regret.

"Devil," she whispered.

A chuckle escaped him before he devoured her lips in a kiss that left her breathless.

Working On My Writing

I am super excited because my novel so far is almost 3,000 words in just a few short scenes. They are just a raw idea of what I want to happen in each scene. They aren't in order either of how they will happen in the book. But I am a writer that doesn't write from beginning to end in a straight line. The stories never come to me like that.

Rewriting this story was the best idea I have had.

And I am taking a huge jump next month and I have joined what is called The Genre Summit online conference. It is free and being held on Facebook. Now, granted I dont have any desire to get into the movies but there is a lot to be learned from experts in the horror industry and movie making. There is so much more that goes on behind the scenes in making a movie you would be surprised. It runs from Oct 16-19th.

I'm really excited about all of this. Before I wouldn't have dreamed I could do such a thing or take part in such an event but since it has to do with Horror which is a genre I love to write about, hint about in my writing I figured what the hell why not.

The Mummy

Blurb
Nick Morton is a soldier of fortune who plunders ancient sites for timeless artifacts and sells them to the highest bidder. When Nick and his partner come under attack in the Middle East, the ensuing battle accidentally unearths Ahmanet, a betrayed Egyptian princess who was entombed under the desert for thousands of years. With her powers constantly evolving, Morton must now stop the resurrected monster as she embarks on a furious rampage through the streets of London.

I rented this movie off of pay preview yesterday. I was surprised actually. I am not a fan of Tom Cruise but he actually didn't do too bad in this. The female archeologist though I had a problem with, she was a bossy bitch whose performance was less than Tom's. And I love the fact that they bought Russell Crowe into this but they didn't give a good enough reason for adding his character into this film  cause he played Henry Jekyll. As in Jekyll and Hyde. Why would you bring in Jekyll and Hyde to this? It made no sense in this story line.

The actress who played Ahmanet I like her. She has played in The Kingsmen, Star Trek, which I liked her better in Star Trek and she made a good Princess but once again it could have been better if they had developed her story line a bit more like what was done with the first set of Mummy movies. I liked that this one was based on the female as the baddy instead of a man. But they didnt use it to their advantage in the story line. The characterization was weak but it was a fast paced movie which kinda makes up for the weak characters.
Now had they gotten Patricia who played the original bad ass female in The Mummy movie series to play Ahmanet
It would have been a much better movie.

But it did have a twist at the end that I liked a lot and maybe Tom Cruise will be able to play it off but I doubt it with his acting abilities. He actually is now Set in this movie line. I'm not so sure how I like that. I like the idea that they are going to use Set as a major character in the next Mummy movie, and you know there will be another one made Hollywood just cant help themselves.

And I didnt like the double eye thing. That was just retarded. And if they are trying to start a new trend with the Gods they just need to quit.

The Brothers

It was only a matter of time before they found her. And yet they never thought they would find her like this.A gypsy no less. She was surrounded by fortune tellers, mediums, and a few they weren't so sure were human. And yet, they knew they couldn't walk away from her. No, they would wait. She would come to them, it was inevitable.

The Wild

You can buy the book from the authors website. Both Amazon and Barnes & Noble has banned it.

Title: The Wild
Author: K. Webster
Publisher: Self Published
Genre: Erotic Romance
Rating: 3***

My Thoughts: I am glad that I got this book finally to read. I wanted to read it cause the book was banned even though it was a top seller. What could possibly be that bad about it? This book for me didn't live up to the hype.

You are warned this book is not for the faint at heart or the sensitive. You are warned that it is dark and I guess by many peoples opinions it is but not by my definition.

Yes, the book is Taboo but if you consider the circumstances that these characters find themselves in, it can be understood how boundaries could be crossed even though in main stream society they aren't. In fact such Taboo things can get you put away in jail for a very long time.

I have read a lot of different erotica. And while this has a few select scenes where it gets rough it is not enough to cross boundaries. It is not even enough to be considered non consensual. Once again falling short of hearing how dark and twisted this tale is. I expected MORE out of this book. While the author does go into internal wars of the characters with themselves when you forget about the taboo part of it, this is truly nothing more than another love story like all the rest out there.

To me a dark book consist of non consent, violence, murder maybe without a just cause in it. Someone hanging on the edge of society that cant necessarily be explained away by reason. Something that shows a truer side of human nature at its darkest moments, fearful but unable to escape it and yet we are left with just enough to be able to sympathize with the character.  To still call them human.

The darker basic instincts make us uncomfortable because we know as humans we can reach that level. We have heard, we have seen it, there have been just causes for it but it still makes us cringe and want to deny such things.

I enjoy K. Websters writing style and talent. Do I think she's a bad person for writing such a taboo story? No. I think she is a brave woman for writing a story that wanted to be told and shared with readers. Do I think it's right that her book was banned? No, because I don't believe in others having the right to censor what I read. This country isn't a dictatorship.  You are warned that this book is taboo and might not be for you, therefore you as an adult you have a responsibility to yourself whether or not to read it but you don't get that right to decide for me.

This book though is well written, the characters are extremely believable and likeable. They go through hardships that would make anyone feel defeated and want to give up and yet they conquer and survive and love thrives even in ways that it shouldn't that it makes you happy for them.
