I know I fucked up. And knowing my luck she will probably not want to talk to me. Can't say I blame her. I left without looking back or even saying goodbye. He closed his eyes and prayed to whatever powers to be there was that Abby would give him a second chance.
A second chance to what? To hurt her? To crucify her? To break her heart all over again? At the age of sixteen all he saw were stars literally when his brothers band Crow Everlasting asked him to be their bass guitar player. Even their parents didn't like it but Michael had promised them that he would still get Alex through school. After all he was family wasn't he? But deep down in his heart he knew his parents didn't believe Michael no matter how badly they wanted to.
Alex had always been a strong willed child. Alex had always been one that had to learn things the hard way. Life had been no exception. That is until Michael's fatal accident that had not only taken his life but ended the band. After Michael died Alex wanted nothing to do with the band, music industry. Instead he had left California with just the money in his pocket and rode as far as that would take him.
He had settled down in a small town called Mason Falls where he learned construction. He enjoyed working with his hands, building something that would out last his lifetime. And along the way he had grown up, he had matured. Now if only he could make Abby to see the man he had become and not the boy who had left her devastated.
He didn't realize how much he had missed Tower Mills until he had came back. It was almost as if he had never left. His father had lived here his whole life. One of his great grandfathers had founded the town back in the early 1600s. He had ran into Abby's mom by accident and she had been so nice as to inform him her unmarried daughter worked at the local clothing boutique.
Alex hadn't planned on staying but when he found out Abby still lived here and was still single he couldn't bring himself to leave. It was like Fate had decided to give him another chance. After all these years apart Alex had never forgotten Abby. He had never actually stopped caring for her.
