Abby never thought she would see him again. And now she wished that she hadn't. Oh yes, she knew exactly who it was on that motorcycle setting outside the boutique. Granted he was older but she would have recognized Alex anywhere.
What in the hell is he doing back here? Why is he here? How in the hell did he find out where I work? There was no denying how good he looked. It hadn't helped when Nicole said she would go after him. Abby had wanted to throttle her right where she stood.
Her heart thumped against her chest like a wild animal wanting to get away. She wasn't ready to face him yet. She wasn't ready to tell him he had a daughter, a daughter she had been successfully raising all on her own.
"What's wrong Abby, you look as if you have seen a ghost?" asked Mary as she bought over more articles of clothing for the manikins to wear.
"I think I have."
"Isn't that Alex Mills?"
"The one and only."
"You talk as if you know him?" Mary laid the first scarf around the manikins neck.
"He was my first true love."
"Oh wow, that is something."
"It was once upon a time ago."
"Why don't you go ahead and clock out early. There's only an hour left before closing and if we get busy Nicole can help me."
"Thank you Mary."
