Durotan

Title: Durotan

Christie Golden

Publisher:Legendary Titan Books
Series: Warcraft
Pages:312
Genre: Fantasy
Rating: 5*****Stars

Book Description:In the world of Draenor, the strong and fiercely independent Frostwolf Clan are faced with increasingly harsh winters and thinning herds. When Gul’dan, a mysterious outsider, arrives in Frostfire Ridge offering word of new hunting lands, Durotan, the Clan’s chieftain, must make an impossible decision: abandon the territory, pride and traditions of his people, or lead them into the unknown.
An original tale of survival, conflict and magic that leads directly into the events of Warcraft, an epic adventure from Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures, based on Blizzard Entertainment’s global phenomenon.
The book is a prequel to the movie Warcraft. I had no idea that there was a book that should have been read before one saw the movie but in actuality I am glad I didn't read it before I saw the movie.

My Thoughts: I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars because it deserves a much higher rating, You all know I am a WOW fan to begin with. I saw the movie and it led me to wanting to know if there was a book that told how Durotan came to be chieftain in the first place. This book gives you an inside look of how Durotan grew up, the traditions values of his clan. The partnership and love between the Frostwolves and the wolves that they rode.
It tells of their relationship with the spirits, and other tribes throughout their world.
This book made me laugh, made me sit on the edge of my seat reading it at times. Bought tears to my eyes when not only clan but beloved wolves died. It is a story of struggle, of love, of spiritual connection to everything that made this clan Orcs. It shows how far each chieftain was willing to go to protect his people. I have to say this book has became my all time favorite read this year.

This is the first Warcraft book I have bought but it is far from the last. Reading this book after I saw the movie I feel enriched my experience of it. The book is always better than the movie. In the movie they are limited what they can tell and show but the book brings it all to life and shows us things we never would have guess.
And now knowing more of Draka's story makes me like this character even more for who she is. The movie truly down played her compared to the book. Draka is Durotan's wife, she is a Frostwolf through and through. If I was ever to be a Orc I would want to be able to be as brave and noble of one as she is.

I cant wait to read more on the world of Warcraft and its many diverse characters that have bought the game playing into being and made it a wonderful world of fantasy to get lost in not only between the pages of its books, but hours in game playing and now on the silver screen.
